Val Wilkie, Jr. to be honored at Oct. 21 Luncheon

ARLINGTON, TX – The Dallas-Fort Worth Hospital Council (DFWHC) will present this year’s Distinguished Health Service Award to Valleau "Val Wilkie, Jr. during its 62nd Annual Awards Luncheon on Oct. 21, 2010 at the Arlington Convention Center. Serving as the Luncheon’s keynote speaker will be Paula Zahn, Discovery Channel host and former CNN news anchor. The Young Healthcare Executive of the Year will be announced in August.

“We are pleased to honor Mr. Wilkie for his many decades of loyal support of healthcare in North Texas,” said W. Stephen Love, president and CEO of DFWHC. “Since 1973, he has guided the Sid Richardson Foundation that has contributed millions of dollars to the health and well being of Texans.”

In addition to Zahn, U.S. Surgeon General Regina M. Benjamin, M.D. has been invited to discuss healthcare reform. Dr. Benjamin, M.B.A. is the 18th Surgeon General of the U.S. Public Health Service. As America’s Doctor, she provides the public with the best scientific information available on how to improve their health. Dr. Benjamin also oversees the command of 6,500 health officers who serve in locations around the world to promote and advance the health of the American People.
