Ray and Nancy Ann Hunt and Scott Peek honored at Luncheon

ARLINGTON, TX – The Dallas-Fort Worth Hospital Council (DFWHC) presented this year’s Distinguished Health Service Award to Ray and Nancy Ann Hunt during its 61st Annual Awards Luncheon on Oct. 28, 2009 at the Arlington Convention Center. Serving as the Luncheon’s keynote speaker was Joe Scarborough, former Florida Congressman and now host of MSNBC's television program Morning Joe. Scott Peek, chief operating officer of Baylor Regional Medical Center at Grapevine, received the Young Healthcare Executive of the Year Award.

“We were pleased to recognize Mr. and Mrs. Ray Hunt for their many years of loyal support of healthcare in Dallas and Fort Worth,” said W. Stephen Love, president and CEO of DFWHC. “The Annual Awards Luncheon is a demonstration in the belief that better health makes a better community. This was our way of thanking the Hunts for their dedication to the continuous improvement of healthcare in North Texas.”

Mr. Hunt serves as chairman of the board, president and CEO of Hunt Consolidated, Inc. and chairman and CEO of Hunt Oil Company. Mrs. Hunt is a past board member of Promise House and Special Care and Career Center, past president and board member of Shelter Ministries of Dallas and board member and past president of Contact Crisis Line.

The daily host of Morning Joe, Mr. Scarborough is known for his fiery commentary, political knowledge and thought-provoking ideas. He also appears as a commentator on other MSNBC shows including Hardball with Chris Matthews. His most recent book, The Last Best Hope, was released in June.

"I was fortunate to see Mr. Scarborough at an event last year," Love said. "He was so impressive that I thought he would be a great fit for the Annual Awards Luncheon. I truly enjoyed his presentation."

Mr. Peek joined Baylor Regional Medical Center at Grapevine as its chief operating officer in 2008. He has been employed with Baylor Health Care System since 2001, including service as president of Baylor Specialty Hospital and Our Children’s House at Baylor. The Young Healthcare Executive of the Year is an honor designated for healthcare leaders 40 years of age or younger.

“The North Texas area is fortunate to have young executives like Mr. Peek contributing to the future of healthcare and continuing a successful tradition of excellence and innovation,” said Love.
