Annual Awards Luncheon

This year's luncheon took place Nov. 2, 2007 at the Arlington Convention Center. Former United Nations Ambassador John R. Bolton was the keynote speaker. We would like to thank Stewart Stimmel LLP for serving as our 2007 Presenting Sponsor.

A popular DFWHC event, the Annual Awards Luncheon is held every November. The program features a prominent keynote speaker, with past guests including General Tommy Franks, Newt Gingrich, Dick Cheney, Lady Margaret Thatcher and General Colin Powell. This luncheon is designed to honor hospital trustees and healthcare leaders. Awards include the Distinguished Health Service Award and the Boone Powell, Sr. Award of Excellence.

Distinguished Health Service Award

This award is presented each year to an individual who has committed personal and professional time to better the quality of healthcare for all citizens. This individual is selected by five non-healthcare professionals to include two from Dallas County, two from Tarrant County and one from outside these two counties.

Boone Powell, Sr. Award of Excellence

This award is presented by the DFWHC Board of Trustees to recognize a healthcare executive who has been a CEO for 15 years and has made significant contributions to the healthcare industry. The vote is confidential and the one-time ballot of the Board must be unanimous. To date, only 11 executives have been honored.

Young Healthcare Executive of the Year Award

First presented in 2005, the award honors initiative and accomplishment of a promising young healthcare executive during the early stages of his or her career. Chief Executive Officers nominate one person from their hospital. The DFWHC Board then chooses the recipient based upon several criteria.
